ייִדיש
this page will be for me to practice typing in yiddish, mostly. i'm using isaac bleaman's yiddish klal keyboard, and studying through duolingo, mostly. it's... relatively slow going — i've been learning for over a year, now, and have a 120+ day duolingo streak, but i still feel like i'm in the early stages of learning. languages are hard, y'all!it doesn't help, of course, that i have nobody to practice speaking it with. my great-grandfather, who died when i was a kid and who i only met once, was the last person in my family to be fluent in yiddish. (i found out within the past year that he was also a leftist, and that when he died he asked for donations to an organization focused on keeping yiddish literature alive. i think me and him would have gotten along.)
anyways! i am typing this at nearly 2am and won't be adding a link to it on my site properly until i've put some real content on it in yiddish. which i am too sleepy to do at the moment, due to the 2am bit. so if you find this page, congrats: it's a little easter egg for now, i suppose! i'm hoping this will be a good chance for me to practice once i add some things to it.
