Music

a few years ago towards the end of 2020, i bought myself a cheap guitar off craigslist for my birthday and took the bus downtown in the pouring rain to pick it up. i'd never played before (aside from a few basic chord lessons in my middle school music history class; i was always in the percussion section in band class, so i never even learned to read music) but i needed a hobby that wasn't the same thing as my job, so i taught myself how.

i don't really play or sing in front of people irl — both out of stagefright & because i want to keep this a hobby that's mostly just for my own enjoyment — but i do sometimes get the urge to share things, so i figured my tiny little personal website was a good place to do that! i don't really write my own stuff, so this will most likely all be various covers, and i'll add to it every once in a while. i hope you enjoy!

i'll be honest with you, i recorded like 5 crane wives songs in the same day, but i'm just gonna post this one because it's my favorite. maybe i'll do more in the future; they're one of my favorite bands.

there's something so theatrical about this song that i love. so of course i needed to cover it and make it about lesbians. obviously

i love hop along's music sooo much specifically for the energetic frantic raw quality a lot of their songs have — i feel like we see indie dude singers yell or sing weirdly or whatever so often, but so rarely are women in music allowed to be imperfect in the same ways. i really like it, and it also makes their songs really fun to try playing.
