i really like sewing. i don't know how to use a sewing machine yet (though my grandmother, who works as a theatre costume designer, has promised to teach me sometime this year!), but i find sewing by hand super relaxing! it's the perfect mix of repetitiveness, lots of sensory input, and practical to please the particular neurodivergencies my brain has going on.

in spring 2022, i decided on impulse to teach myself how to make a quilt with some scrap fabric i had lying around from clothes i'd mended or altered. i'm really proud of how it turned out!

i haven't had time to make any more quilts since then, but i'm hoping i have a chance to soon!

i've also mended & altered a lot of my clothes. i really like doing that; it feels like i'm giving a little gift to my future self by making sure the things i like wearing will last longer, and also adding evidence of my existence to them. (i was here! i changed the buttons on this coat when the original boring ones started falling off! i added pockets to this jacket that didn't have pockets before! i was here! etc!) i'm hoping to get to a point soon that i'll be able to make my own clothes as well!

a graphic novel project! i want to keep this personal website & my more professional social media presence fairly separate when possible, so i'm not going to name the project right now (though i may later, and if you really want to find it i'm sure you can), but it's a middle-grade horror comic and it'll be out in fall 2023. i'm very excited about it!
