interactive fiction

  • tallahassee microsite — a promotional website made for the mountain goats' 2003 album tallahassee (and recreated by neocities user halinthewoods!) where you can click around a house and learn about poison, alcoholism, peacocks, and the fucked up couple that lives in said house.
    (content warnings) alcoholism, drug abuse, mental illness, suicidality, and, uh, whatever the alpha couple have going on. if you've listened to the album you probably know the content warnings that apply already.
  • ( c y c l e ) by cecile richard for domino club — a short horror story about underground tunnels. i'm in love with the way the artist formatted it & the use of images, and the dithered effect on the images makes it look like they're pulsing as you scroll down, which i find so cool!
  • emptyhalls — you know that one picture that's an edit of i think a seinfeld screencap where they're in a sauna and the background has been edited to be a bunch of text and the caption says "it's like a house of leaves in here!"? this is like that
  • dream wiki — i need to properly go through this site (it's 1am while i'm writing this, so a bit late for me to process words!), but from what i've read, it's beautiful dreamlike poetry in a really cool format.

  • spatial horror masterlist — a list i put together collecting various haunted house / spatial horror media! currently has more than 100 items on it.

artmaking resources

  • same.energy — a visual search engine! great for finding really specific vibes. sort of like pinterest, but not completely full of stolen art.
  • riso simulator — simulates printing with a risograph machine so you can easily try out different colors, opacities, and etc before actually printing something.
  • world4 — a huge collection of historical references! fashion, architecture, furniture, etc from various eras.
  • kidpix.app — free online public domain kid pix!!! for the late 90s/early 00s kids
  • perspective grid generator — literally a lifesaver
